Every person has both femininity and masculinity. It's in 70-30 ratio or perhaps 80-20 ratio. In general, men are somewhat 70% masculine and 30% feminine. Masculinity is hardness, ego, ambitious, aggression, and so forth. Hence, all the wars since the beginning of humanity. Femininity is softness, passivity, love, care, music, dance, and so forth.
Since the beginning, men have dominated women in every society because of them being more physically strong. Consequently, the society is shaped in such a way that there is much turmoil in the world. Being soft or feminine is considered to be a weakness in the society. If a person runs away from a fight he'll be labelled as a coward and he'll be shameful for this act.
Contrary to this notion, my assertion is on embracing femininity more. Men have suppressed women just to assert their superiority. Every major religion has made efforts to undermine the independence of women. Rajneesh, a celebrated philosopher, once said that Femininity should have been the centre of the civilisation.
Men are fearful of losing their hegemony. But i'd like to mention that it's not something new. They have always been. Men were insecure of losing their superior positions in the society. They were afraid that women, being somewhat more competent would overtake them in this race. So, they had to oppress.
